Lingerie testing

Test 1: Bursting Strength

We tested lace underwear in the laboratory.

The sample material was placed and clamped between the membrane and the transparent semi sphere. With the device we measured the air pressure that bursted the fabric by looking at the display. We did this experiment 5 times to get the average.

Sample no. Strength kPa Height in mm

1 150.6 70.1

2 136.5 64.5

3 74 70.1

4 172.6 70

5 95.1 70.1

Average 125.76 68.96

Test 2: Color fastness to perspiration

In this test we needed to determine the lace’s reaction to 2 different sweat solutions: acid and alkaline.

In order to figure that out we put 1 piece of the lingerie lace into acid and another into alkaline for half an hour. After that we placed the pieces in the the perspirometer and put them in the oven at 37 ° C for 4 hours.

Eventually, when after finishing the test we could see that the grade of color change was not very visible, it was a grade 4 in both cases, but due to the black color the fabric became lighter.
